In the Tampa area, for example, the Terminix pest control company is looking to hire more than 200 workers for its call center. The company will conduct interviews in the next few weeks for positions that range from $13 per hour to a $60,000 annual salary. Elsewhere in the state, Jacksonville appears to be at the epicenter of the call center hiring movement in Florida. First came the announcement that the UnitedHealth Group would be adding more than 300 call center jobs after opening a 47,000-square-foot facility in the city. The call center will deal with the company’s customers that are health care professionals. The company already has call centers in California, Arizona, Kansas and Texas. The jobs available at the center will be entry-level and have annual salaries of around $30,000. The potential jobs at UnitedHealth sparked a great deal of interest from unemployed citizens in the Jacksonville area. A hiring fair attracted more than 700 interested applicants. The potential for call center jobs clearly excited people in the area, as Jacksonville is one city that had been hit hard by the poor state of the national economy over the past few year. In addition to these call centers hiring agents in Florida, word has come from other parts of the country that call centers are looking to hire new employees. This marks a positive trend for the industry and a good sign that the economy might be making a turn for the better. Want to learn more about the latest in communications and technology?
