Call Centers Hiring Agents a Nationwide Trend

In the past several years, many Americans have struggled with unemployment. The economy shrunk and thousands were left without jobs. While it’s probably too early to say that the economy is turning around for good, looking at the number of call centers around the country that are hiring agents gives hope for job seekers in the near future.

Call centers all over the United States are hiring dozens – sometimes hundreds – of agents. For example, in Las Cruces, New Mexico alone, two different call centers are hiring agents. Sitel hired 250 employees for its call center in August and wants to hire 100 more. Also, the Convergys (News - Alert) Corporation is looking for 200 full-time employees.

"We're looking for highly motivated individuals who can work from our contact center, providing great customer service and promoting our client's products and services," James Crossland, site leader in Las Cruces for Convergys told The Las Cruces Sun-News. "We are reaching out into our community to fill these openings, because these are not only terrific positions, they are great stepping stones to a career in operations, recruitment or training."

The hiring news is not limited to New Mexico, however. An Alorica call center near Pittsburgh is seeking approximately 50 agents to work on its phone captioning service. A healthcare company in Jacksonville, Florida is also hiring agents, as is an insurance call center in Arizona. And this is just a smattering of the call center hiring news from the past week.

Each and every week brings several announcements that call centers around the nation are hiring new agents, which is both a good sign for the businesses themselves and, of course, for people who are out of work.

Hiring agents for call centers can be challenging, which is why companies like HireIQ are there to provide solutions for hiring managers. Their InterviewIQ solution helps call centers find the right agents for their open positions, agents that are good workers, fit the company concept and will be loyal, long-term employees.
